See what I did there? I am really excited to be taking over the blog of Girl in the North from Katy. I hope I can do all of her hard work justice. I thought I would start with a little introduction into my life. I’ve been blogging on and off for the past year whilst posting my life and house on Instagram. So here goes!
I’m Danielle, 30, mummy to a cheeky toddler Alice, wife to (a very handy) Andy and I live in Gateshead just over the water from Newcastle upon Tyne. We moved into our house around a year ago now and we love it! The views are spectacular and we have lots of space for our family to grow in.
My favourite things include interiors and DIY and we are currently working our way though the house. I wouldn’t say I have one particular style but I love to do things on a budget, I have a thing for pink and I love a good gallery wall. One part of my home that I absolutely adore is Alice’s room which allowed me to be really creative and go a little bolder. So far we’ve done a lot of work to the house and I’m at the point where I find it hard to choose a favourite room which is really nice. But we do still have a few ones to tackle and some of the bigger DIY jobs have been left until last like the bathroom and spare bedrooms.
Being ‘mummy’ to Alice has been and continues to be the most magnificent rollercoaster ride. Experiencing new things with her everyday and watching her learn and grow is simply amazing and she’s become my little pal. We have recently come back from Ibiza on our first family holiday and whilst i’m sure she was exhausted she loved every minute! I can’t believe we are coming up to Alice’s second birthday and I haven’t even started with the planning yet. I do enjoy a good party and playing the perfect hostess. Last year I didn’t really have much of a theme but I think this year I might do something a little different . . .
I’ve been really lucky over the past year to work with some amazing brands and it’s really spurred me on, and given me the confidence to turn my hobby into work occasionally. I love the opportunity to be creative outside of my everyday job and I’ve learned lots of new skills around video editing and photography that I want to continue with. I really hope you stick with me whilst I find my feet, I have lots of exciting ideas and events coming up and I can’t wait to share it all.
