Perhaps it’s because I’m a farmer’s daughter but there is nothing I love better than a music festival! I was lucky enough to have a very understanding Mum who encouraged me in my teens to head to festivals to camp out in muddy fields with my friends and I loved it. Back when I first started attending there was no such thing as paying extra for the ‘posh loos’ where you can now get a nice seat on some porcelain and a hot shower but nothing frightened me! I was a master of the baby wipe bath, wind, rain & mud only made me love it more I and could put up a tent in t-minus ten minutes flat.
Then I got a taste of the good life and was lucky enough to be a guest for a few years on the trot at Leeds and T in the Park Festivals. And once I had a steady job, I didn’t attend as often. However each Spring as festivals are announced and talked about on the radio, I still get that feeling. That nervous panic of wondering whether you’ll be lucky enough to secure tickets or not.
Of course this year my priorities are looking a little different and whilst I want my two unborn daughters to have the best introduction to music they possibly can, pushing my two newborns in a double pram around a field isn’t hitting top of the list. So I might have to leave them at home with Grandma and have a weekend out with Jay, as when I heard about Festival on the Wall in Northumberland – well it’s simply too good to miss!
Festival on the Wall aims to be the happiest festival in the UK, giving visitors every option possible for an enjoyable weekend, from really great food (and not having to wait too long in line to purchase it), to easy ways to charge your phone, straighten your hair, have a hot shower or camp in comfort with striking views. Not to mention the incredible line up that has so far been announced including; Pet Shop Boys, The Libertines, Maximo Park, Twin Atlantic and Mark Ronson.
The festival runs August 4-6th and tickets are available to purchase now with a lots of accommodation options available, from pitching your own tent to hiring a luxury tipi. Whilst I don’t fancy taking my twins as they’ll be around 3 weeks old, if you fancy taking the kids 12’s and under are only £10 and there are loads of family friendly activities planned!
It sounds exactly like my dream festival. So if you fancy grabbing yourself and a friend complimentary weekend camping tickets, look no further. All you have to do is one of the following (or all three if you want extra chances to win): Follow me on twitter, leave a blog comment below, or follow me on instagram. The lucky winner will be drawn on the 18th March. Good luck!
