It’s hard to believe that it was just over a year ago that I wrote this post. However experiencing the airshow this year as a guest was just as good as working at the event.
The airshow is one of the highlights of the North East’s calendar and when my brother got some good news on the Friday, heading down for a picnic on the beach seemed like the perfect way to celebrate. Since he was driving and I’m not a big drinker, I grabbed my M&S picnic glasses, stripey straws and a bottle of Shloer sparkly grapefruit juice and off we headed.
Unfortunately in true typical British weather style, the sea fog came in and swamped the entire coastline meaning no night flying displays, but the party still went ahead nonetheless. We grabbed some food and tucked in while the entertainment was just kicking off. To finish Them Beatles played a fantastic set where we danced along and facetimed our Mom who couldn’t make it! To polish the night off, a slightly misty but albeit very pretty fireworks display took place before we headed home for hot chocolate and tea.
I didn’t make it along on the Saturday or Sunday as I had plans already but I did catch the Red Arrows fly over. It was a lovely way to spend a Friday night and a great way to celebrate Adam’s good news. Now if only it could happen again next weekend, that would be nice!
