Newcastle : TK Maxx

A few weeks back the lovely people at TK Maxx contact me and asked me to take part in their style challenge to celebrate their new store opening in Eldon Square. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to the opening event but I’d heard and read amazing things so I didn’t need much of an excuse to go try out the new store! I enlisted the help of Amy and we headed through to Newcastle armed with a camera.

This wasn’t just a TK Maxx style challenge though – I decided this needed to be a colour challenge. Since I normally end up choosing dark colours, Amy was under strict instruction not to let me pick up anything black or grey and I did well I think!

My first find was this amazing French Connection t-shirt, you can’t really tell from the photos but it has a peach back and lighter front and for only £16.99 it was a right bargain. I really wanted to purchase some things wisely for my working wardrobe rather than go wild with something I’d never wear again, so when Amy showed me the fluorescent bag I was a little unsure at first. It was made of a really fun foamy type plastic though and at £9.99 I couldn’t resist.

Next stop was the shoes and I spotted these a mile off. At £19.99 I grabbed them and ran before any other shoppers with size four feet could see them and that’s when it happened, and I failed to only purchase colourful items. Hanging on the end of the coats was this beautiful grey mixed media jacket. It took me over my £50 budget but it was definitely worth it and made the outfit I’d chosen suitable for the office too!

The new store looks absolutely fantastic and as well as fashion, they have the usual homeware section which Amy and I wandered round for ages picking out things for my apartment. Thank you very much to TK Maxx for inviting me along and if you’re in Newcastle then you should definitely check the new Northumberland Street store out!

I have to admit, I do miss the underground one… it felt like a true bargain hunting experience whereas this is much different now. It's great though! x
