Girl in the North Featured in etc Magazine

Just a little bit of a shameless self promotion post today - but have you got your latest copy of etc magazine yet? If not then you should definitely go grab a copy as yours truly graces the fashion pages! Etc got in touch back in January to ask what I'd be wearing this Spring and my opinions on up and coming trends for 2013 so if you haven't got a copy yet, here's what I said to Cara (etc's features writer) and head on over to their website to read the magazine online.

One of the things I spotted from New York's SS 2013 shows was the monochrome trend, everyone from Marc Jacobs, Jenny Packham to Diane Von Furstenberg featured it and London's shows were full of semi-transparent fabrics. So when I spotted this black and white striped sheer shirt in New Look before Christmas, I snapped it up! It's the perfect shirt for dressing up or down. I've been wearing it with heels and my favourite pair of jeans which I've had for years and can't bare to get rid of. Or dressing it down with shorts and boots for shopping trips and running errands! I'm a true believer in having lots of really good staple pieces and adding one or two key trend items each season, not only is this much more affordable but I find dressing a lot more fun!

I'm also really looking forward to getting my hands on a mixed-media coat, Zara have some amazing one's in at the moment but I simply cannot make up my mind with such a good selection. Probably one of the easiest ways to update your wardrobe this Spring is with a pair of statement sunglasses, seen at Anna Sui and 3.1 Phillip Lim, this is one of the trends I've really been looking forward to - now if only we can have some sun!

I'm already looking forward to the shows in February, with such a fun Spring Summer season, I can't wait to see what exciting new looks will appear for AW 2013.
