If you've been reading Girl in the North for a while now, you'll know how much I love the cinema! If you're looking for something to do this weekend and you haven't already seen Life of Pi then you must. It's the perfect film for a January weekend when the weather is miserable and you haven't got all that much cash after Christmas. The story is based around a young boy who survives a disaster at sea, then makes an unexpected friend with a fellow survivor... I won't ruin it for you by going into details but it's a story of courage and magic.
My brother and I popped along last weekend to see it. We bought buttery popcorn and chocolate buttons before settling down in our comfy seats just in time for the adverts (my second favourite part of any cinema trip)! Life of Pi is showing at all good North East cinemas now in 2d but you can catch it in 3d at Sunderland Empire or The Gate Empire cinema now. The movie is just as incredible as the book and it's not often you get to say that - let me know what you think in the comments!
