Christmas Afternoon Tea : Jesmond Dene House

Wednesday, 21 November 2012

Last weekend I was lucky enough to be invited along to experience afternoon tea at Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle. I was well overdue a meet-up with my good friend Joanna so invited her along for a catch up.

Neither of us had ever been to Jesmond Dene House before despite hearing lots about it - we arrived in advance of our tea and tried to have a little nosey around the grounds but it was already getting dark and our tummies were rumbling! So we headed into the hotel where we were welcomed with a glass of champagne and ushered straight to our table in the Garden Room.

We then spent the next hour and half indulging on delicious finger sandwiches, mouth-watering scones and made an attempt to squeeze in some cakes all over a large pot of English Breakfast tea. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon catching up with a friend.

I was so impressed, I'm taking my Mom back for their special Festive Afternoon Tea which is served in the Great Hall. The menu also features a festive twist and I was sold from the moment I heard 'Chocolate Mint Macaroon!'

Afternoon Tea is served daily at Jesmond Dene House from as little as £13 depending on which menu you choose. Or if you want to treat someone to an early Christmas present, their special festive tea is available on Dec 2nd, 9th, 16th and Monday 24th at £29.50 between 3-5.30pm. They even do gift vouchers if you want to treat someone special this Christmas! I had a lovely time and can't wait to go back again already! You can book online at the Jesmond Dene House website or call 0191 212 3000 - let me know if you've been or if you're planning on going & make sure you let them know Girl in the North sent you!

  3. Afternoon tea is something I just love the idea of. The true British classic- refined and relaxed. Chatting over a tea and cake... oh I'm a bit old school sometimes!
I have actually asked as a Graduation present to go for afteroon tea. Looks really good, although Newcastle might be slightly ut of my way for tea. :)

    Great blog x
