Girl in the North Paris Highlights

Last week A and I managed to escape for a few days on a city break to Paris, we hopped on a flight straight from Newcastle to Charles de Gaulle which only took 50 minutes and for only £30 which I think was a bargain!

Arriving in Paris we headed straight to our hotel which was minutes away from the Eiffel tower and had incredible views of it. The First Hotel is a boutique hotel which I would liken to the Mal Maison but obviously been French, the rooms are smaller. It was lovely though and very quirky - think dark corridors and all the light fittings are bowler hats like their logo.

First Hotel Paris

To be honest we were hardly in the hotel itself as the weather was glorious! We'd hit on dates perfectly with temperatures at 25 degrees which you could just about bare walking around in.

A is the perfect man to have as a tour guide as his French is really good and provided we smiled and announced 'Bonjour,' we never received any rudeness. We walked for miles and saw so much during the day that by the evening we were shattered. So headed to the market to stock up on snacks and wine of course before having a delicious picnic under the Eiffel Tower.

French Gentleman with Sausage Dog

I really need to write a longer post with Mr.A's tips for sightseeing in Paris but be prepared if you want to copy it... You'll need comfortable very comfortable shoes! For now though a few of the highlights lots of wine, bowler hat light fittings, first hotel breakfasts, people watching over coffee and a gorgeous old Frenchman with a sausage dog that I bumped into every morning. More to come soon, I promise.

  1. The hotel sounds lovely and £30 for a flight to Paris is amazing, which airline did you use?

    1. Easyjet! We were amazed when we found the flights! My brother is a travel agent & even he couldn't work it out. We did go midweek rather than weekend which probably made a massive difference. On the even more plus side it was lovely and quiet. :)

    1. It was amazing and the hotel couldn't have been better. So quirky and very friendly staff. You should, you'll love it. There is so much to do and it actually worked out cheaper than heading to London for a weekend. xx

  3. That lampshade is awesome! And what a total bargain on your flight! Mine cost about £50 when I went and that was like three years ago now!

    1. Isn't it fab?! They're in all the rooms and reception... such a odd but great idea. I think midweek booking is the key to getting cheap flights... on the plus side it means Paris is a lot quieter to wander around. :0
