North East : Lazy Weekends in Sunderland

Sunday, 2 September 2012

Sometimes, working the long hours A and I do, it's nice just to have a day doing absolutely nothing. We woke up this morning and had a morning lazing around drinking coffee and having cereal (doing the washing - oh fun), then we walked into the city centre for a stroll around in the sun and to pick up things for Sunday lunch.

It was absolute gorgeous day, so I put the washing on the balcony and sat by the river reading my book while A watched the football 'for research.' I hear some girls joke when the new version of football manager comes out that they're football widows but you have no idea until you meet someone who works in it!

After a rather delicious Sunday Dinner, we decided to take a stroll along through Roker Park and up to the beach. We walked all the way up to the pier where there were lots of friendly fishermen. There is nothing better than the feeling of sand between you toes & Roker is one of the cleanest beaches I've ever been to in Britain so I went for a paddle before we came back home for an even lazier Sunday evening ready for our 6am starts at work tomorrow. If you're ever stuck for something to do one weekend, whatever the weather I highly recommend a walk down there, it's so calming and a great way to clear your head!

  1. Sounds lovely! I wish I still lived near the sea, I can never have a proper lazy weekend in the city - it's always too busy!

  2. This looks amazing! I love the idea of going to the beach but I really really hate all the dirt and rubbish lying in the sand waiting for you to accidentally unearth it. My bf has the week off next week for my birthday so I may have to take him along here for a nice stroll. I'm sure the Geordie in me can pop to sunderland for the sake of a clean beach lol xxxx
