Tavistock Italia Restaurant Sunderland, North East England

The Tavistock Italia is possibly Sunderland's best kept secret! If you're in the North East, this place is an absolute must visit for a tea time treat. Not only has it got a pretty funky interior but if you turn up before 6.30pm you can get 3 courses for £5.95 and the food is to die for.

A and I nipped there after work last Wednesday and despite not booking a table, they managed to squeeze us into the restaurant. For starters we both opted for potato skins with a heavenly garlic dip and side salad. The portions are huge and A had to help me finish mine off! As part of the deal, you can choose any pizza or pasta from the menu, so I went with my absolute fave carbonara and A chose the meatballs.

To polish off we both finished with ice cream for dessert, A had chocolate and I went with vanilla and strawberry sauce. The food was delicious and to finish off we sat in the seating area outside to admire the view before heading home.

For more pictures (even a sneaky one of A) follow me on instagram @katytrouble. The Tavistock Italia is situated in the Roker Hotel on the seafront and you can book a table by calling 0191 567 1786. The prices do go up after 6.30pm and though the £5.95 deal has been running for months now, I'm not sure how much longer they'll run that for, so get in quick and tell them you heard about it on Girl in the North!
