If you've been struggling to find your culture fix this weekend in the North East, then you should definitely try and get to the Sunderland Air Show tomorrow! The three day event was opened on Friday evening by The Risk and The Counterfeit Sixties followed by a sunset flying display by the SWIP team then fireworks.
Unfortunately my partner in crime is away in South Korea at the moment but not wanting to miss out, I took a stroll along the River Wear to Roker Beach where it was a glorious 18 degrees. Finding a spare patch of grass near the main events was a bit of a struggle because this is the largest air show in the country, it gets quite busy. But I got myself some strawberries and cream and headed to the edge to watch out from Cliffe Park.
The Red Arrows are opening tomorrow's day of events, so make sure to get down to the seafront early to get the best viewing spots. For more details on the International Air Show click here. Or if you're fancying something a little more musical try the SummerTyne Americana Festival in Newcastle at The Sage!
