The Stadium of Light last night literally sparkled as over 50,000 people came together to see Coldplay perform on their UK stadium tour, I have honestly never seen something so beautiful. The electronic wristbands were handed out to the audience upon entry which when activated by certain songs lit up in time to the beat. Not only was it the busiest I have ever seen the stadium but it was also the most incredible sight watching it literally lit up by people.
Even the pouring rain couldn't let anyone's spirits down, it simply added to the atmosphere! With Chris Martin even performing lines from 'Singing in the Rain' half way through the concert. It was a rather magical performance, especially when the band appeared randomly at the back of the crowd as a surprise. The performance featured their early hits which the Coldplay purist like myself originally fell in love with to new songs from Mylo Xyloto but the bit which made me really fall in love with Coldplay all over again was the finale track. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall was set against the backdrop of fireworks and twinkling wristbands all the in the already atmospheric stadium.
I have a million photos which I could put up but I don't think any can compete with the view which Chris Martin had last night and posted on the band's twitter page. I honestly have no idea how anyone next year will be able to top that performance.
